Spirituality, what is it?
Rather a big question to sum up in one blog i know but a question that so many seem to seek the answer. To be honest it’s not a question that can be answered simply or definitively but here i will give you my account on how i define spirituality. For me spirituality is a realisation that there is more to life than meets the eye. Something bigger than us is working for us and through us out into the world we see. For me personally once i had come to this realisation my whole world changed. I began to look at the world through new eyes. From where I once felt pain and disconnection I felt love and connection. I’m saying boom I woke up and everything was love and light but all of a sudden everything I thought about my life, the world, relationship, MYSELF changed. So spirituality is not just a realisation a ‘one moment thing’ but more of a journey of discovery and the deeper i go the more i realise, that journey is never ending.
I’m talking about this from my personal perspective which leads me onto my next point which is that this is the ONLY way that we can talk about it for spirituality is indeed very personal.
There are no rules, no practices I can suggest, no feelings I can express that can guarantee the same outcomes that I perceive through my own personal filter but that’s part of its beauty. Spirituality is you connecting with you, your relationship with god/the source/spirit or whatever you want to and becoming more empowered to become more well… you . Sure there are many tools, philosophies, and practices that may be helpful but ultimately it is your journey, your truth, your understanding that creates the path.
So can I give you a single one true answer to this question of what is spirituality no, but I’m hoping that if you are reading this then you have already come to this conclusion through your own experience. So why write this blog at all if i can’t even answer my own question, I hear you ask. Well I’m just hoping that this may confirm for you what you already suspected, hoped, but really couldn’t quite believe that the only person who truly knows the answer to this question is you.
