So for many months now I have been intending to start creating artwork for a tarot deck. I say months it’s probably been over a year. Why has it taken me so long to start the process? Well honestly, I’m easily distracted. It’s one of the many ideas that stay just that….. Ideas. Then again that’s how this artistic process kind of works, seeds get planted and then left to germinate until the day that a spark of inspiration brings it to life (well that’s my excuse anyway). That’s what happened to me this week, I painted an image that when I finished just said “tarot”.

After months of trying to figure out a style and approach a process to produce 78 images that would be coherent enough to work as a set of cards, there it was, right in front of me. After considering the task too overwhelming and deciding I just probably haven’t got the focus to consistently work towards a series of paintings I had put the idea to “one side”. So now i’m going to ride this wave of enthusiasm and paint with the intention of finally creating a deck of tarot, well at least until the day i get distracted that is.
